Thank God For Heel Grips

My first pair of green Doc's (c.2020)

In July 2020 I bought my first pair of green DM's. I'd had boots before, but never in green. So some heads turned once I started wearing them. I loved them and managed to keep them - despite being in terrible condition - until July 2024! At that time I bought a new pair of green ones and I really love both the strength and colour of them.

Unfortunately, like most Doc wearers, my heels can be in pain for a few weeks until the footwear is 'broken in'. I discovered a way of lessening the pain - they come in the form of heel grips. All of this motivated me to write this poem as I stuck the grips into my boots before triumphantly strolling down the road with a pep in my step. Read on...

THANK GOD FOR HEEL GRIPS

Only the other day

I bought a pair of Doc's

Green and shiny

A pair of beauty

Except...

I was down at the heel

Literally!

My feet were sore

As I tried my DM's once more

Left heel in agony

From the cutting of the Doc's

'Breaking in' was required

Said the nice man in the shop

So, was I to walk with a hop from the pain?

Fear not!

The arrival of saviours

They came in the form of heel grips

Once inserted correctly

My heels will

No longer peel

No more pain in order to gain

The heel grips did their job

My daily trips no longer would throb

In pain

A small strip of adhesive

Affixed to the interior of my boots

Have revived my love of DM's

No longer am I staggering

My heels cut into bits

I now walk with grace

Moving at great pace

Yes, these are the wonders of invention

Thank God for heel grips!
